With the rapid expansion of information technology and the increasing differentiation,diversification and personalization of consumer demand,how to quickly respond to the changes of market and customer demand in the rapidly changing market environment has become an inevitable important topic for project-based organization.Process modularity is an innovative application of modular theory in business process systems.Because of its modular design,it can improve the flexibility of business process systems without losing efficiency,helping enterprises to take the lead in fierce market competition.It has attracted more and more attention from enterprises and researchers.At present,as a new means to quickly meet the needs of the market and help enterprises continuously obtain competitive advantages,projects have been regarded as the basic unit of operation and development by more and more enterprises.However,in the existing research,scholars' research on process modularity mostly focuses on the enterprise or organization level,and the research from the project level is still in the initial stage and exploration stage.There are still many contradictions when explaining the internal mechanism of process modularity affecting project performance.Therefore,this study combines existing research results,based on the modularity theory and resource-based view,introduces resource flexibility as a mediator variable,and IT capability as a moderator variable,using empirical methods to explore the impact of process modularity on project performance.This study hopes to provide direction suggestions and theoretical guidance for the Process Modularity of project-based organization.On the basis of a large number of literature reading,this study firstly defines the concept and dimension of each research variable,and divides the process modularity into two dimensions: process module configurability and process module coupling.Secondly,combined with the existing research results to carry out theoretical derivation,put forward research hypothesis,and construct a model of the role of process modularity on project performance.Thirdly,in order to verify the proposed research hypothesis,this study take project managers and members of project-based organization as the survey objects,and used SPSS22.0 and AMOS8.0 analysis software to analyze the data of 212 valid questionnaires collected.The results show that process modularity has a significant positive impact on project performance,in which process module configurability is more conducive to the improvement of project performance than process module coupling.Resource flexibility plays a mediating role between process modularity and project performance.IT capability plays a positive role in the relationship between process modularity and project performance.Finally,combined with empirical research results and relevant literature research conclusions,this paper proposes strategies and Suggestions for project-based organization to improve project performance through Process modularity.
