Measurement And Analysis Of China's Consumption Inequality

Since reforming and opening,after more than 40 years of economic growth,China has grown into the world's second largest economy and made great achievements in various aspects.People's living standards have been continuously improved,the quality of education has been continuously enhanced,and medical facilities have been constantly improved,but then there is the issue of economic inequality.The study of economic inequality can be carried out from many aspects.This paper chooses the consumption that best reflects social welfare to study China's economic inequality.This has great significance for the improvement of China's consumption inequality and the formulation of relevant Chinese policies.The first chapter introduces the research background,research significance,research ideas,research methods and main work and innovation of this paper.The second chapter combs the relevant research literature at home and abroad.The third chapter studies the inequality index and the decomposition method of inequality index.The fourth chapter is the empirical analysis chapter,which is also the core chapter of this paper.This chapter studies the consumption of China.The status quo of equality and the reasons for consumption inequality.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and prospect of the article,and puts forward corresponding suggestions based on the research results.Through the above studies,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)In 2010-2016,China's consumer Gini coefficient is above 0.4,and consumption inequality is relatively high.From the trend of the consumption Gini coefficient,China's consumer Gini coefficient is still rising at a higher level,rising from 0.4385 in 2010 to 0.4870 in 2016,and the consumption gap of Chinese residents is gradually expanding.(2)From the perspective of consumption composition,food expenditure inequality is the most important cause of consumption inequality;health care expenditure,clothing expenditure and cultural and educational entertainment expenditure Gini coefficient is relatively stable,and there is no obvious change in consumption inequality;health care The Gini coefficient of expenditure is large and the degree of inequality is high.(3)From the perspective of regional decomposition,the consumption gap between urban and rural residents and the consumption gap between the eastern and western regions are the main reasons for consumption inequality.(4)From the change of Gini coefficient,the unequal expenditure of household goods is the main reason for the increase of Gini coefficient from 2010 to 2012.The inequality of housing expenditure is the main reason for the increase of Gini coefficient in 2012-2014,and the unequal transportation and communication expenditure.It is the main reason for the increase in the Gini coefficient in 2014-2016.(5)From the perspective of consumption function decomposition,there are many factors affecting consumption inequality,including family income,family property status,family insurance,family population,age,education level,etc.At the same time,income and asset gap are household consumption.The most important reason for inequality.
