As the pioneer of China's opening-up and innovation,Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone has absorbed a large number of foreign-funded enterprises and attracted many foreign knowledge workers. But at the same time, the problems of supply-demand mismatch, high mobility and difficult integration of foreign knowledge workers are also prominent. How to retain and manage foreign knowledge workers to make them play the greatest value in the work is the focus of foreign knowledge workers management. This study takes foreign knowledge workers in Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone as the main research object to study their stress perception and sources, and to compare them with native knowledge workers. This study firstly reviews the research literature on work stressors, and draws the following conclusions through questionnaires and empirical analysis:(1)The stressors of foreign knowledge workers mainly come from seven aspects: ‘Work Integration',‘Work Relationship',‘Management Style',‘Self-efficacy',‘Achievement Motivation',‘Work-family Balance' and ‘Workload'.(2)The stress of foreign knowledge workers from Asia is lower, while that of Europe,America and other countries increases in turn.(3)Foreign knowledge workers of high-tech enterprises are more stressed on the ‘Achievement Motivation'.(4)Foreign knowledge workers who are executives and R&D technicians are more stressed on the ‘Work-family Balance'.(5)There is a significant difference in the degree of stress perception between native knowledge workers and foreign knowledge workers, and foreign knowledge workers are more stressed than native knowledge workers.(6)Foreign knowledge workers who earn incomes more than 150,000 are more stressed.(7)Foreign knowledge workers who serve as middle-level manager are more stressed.Based on the above research, this study finally puts forward the coping strategies for the work stress management of foreign knowledge workers from the three levels of the government, enterprises and foreign knowledge workers in the following suggestions: The government should face up to the high level of work stress perception of foreign knowledge workers, improve the level of public services in Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone and provide more preferential policies for high-level foreign knowledge workers from the perspective of acculturation.Enterprises could conduct positive stress management by developing accultural communication skills, providing job adaptation assistance and implementing comprehensive compensation and benefits for foreign knowledge workers with high “Achievement Motivation” and “Work-family Balance” stress.Compared with native knowledge workers, foreign knowledge workers with greater overall work stress could adopt positive stress coping methods, such as expanding social network and experiencing positive emotions to enhance their sense of self-efficacy in the accultural context and relieve work stress.
