Research On Software Project Cost Management Based On COSMIC Function Point Method

COSMIC is a software scale measurement method based on the software engineering function point workload evaluation method,which is mainly applied to commercial software and real-time software.The main content of this paper is to research the application of software scale measurement method based on COSMIC function point in software project cost management.The focus of the research is to explore an implementable cost management method based on COSMIC function point method.According to the principles and rules in the COSMIC metrics manual,This paper gives a method for splitting software project work according to data operations,thus achieving refined cost management.Main work includes:1.Analyzed the difficulties in the cost management of software projects in the process of practice,for part A,this difficulty is more prominent.Cost management relies on workload decomposition and assessment,and there is no uniform standard for workload assessment.For Party A's project management,because the management of software projects cannot be deepened,there is no effective means to measure the workload of software developers.2.This paper proposes a software scale measurement method based on COSMIC function points,which aims to solve the problem in the cost management process and conduct in-depth research.3.Based on the COSMIC function point method,the necessary corrections are made to the parameters,and the cost of the project is managed and controlled by the earned value analysis means to achieve cost savings.4.At the same time,it proposes an implementable COSMIC measurement process,and combines the software requirements management method to achieve controllable project scope,which improved the cost management efficiency of Party A software projects,and reduced cost.5.Through the case of a large number of software projects,the effectiveness of cost management based on COSMIC metrics was verified in practice.This paper proposes a software project cost management optimization and improvement scheme based on COSMIC function points by combining the theory and practice.The Y company is taken as an example to discuss the effectiveness of cost management.In terms of cost control of software projects,it provides a good reference example for software project managers,especially Party A.
