Based on the demand level, this paper expands the endogenous technological progress model under the assumption of consumer stratification preference, analyzes the relationship between income gap and technological progress on the steady equilibrium growth path from the perspective of demand-driven innovation, and according to the model,The “Theil index” measures the income gap in China, and considers the problems such as endogeneity, and applies the two-stage least squares(TSLS)empirical analysis of China's situation to study the impact of income gap on technological innovation. In order to promote technological innovation,we will find some ideas, and then provide some inspiration for industrial transformation and structural upgrading from the technological innovation.Firstly, this paper introduces the background, theoretical significance and practical significance of the research.Combining the perspectives of income gap on technological innovation from the perspective of demand-driven innovation at home and abroad,it is pointed out that the research from the perspective of demand-driven is the most important of this paper.Innovative point.Secondly, this paper mainly sorts out the literatures in related fields by means of supply-driven perspective and demand-driven perspective. On the basis of summarizing the research results of predecessors,it seeks ideas for the research of this paper.Thirdly, the paper is within the expansion. On the basis of the bio-technical progress model, the impact of income disparity on technological innovation is studied, and the mechanism of “price effect” and “scale effect” is analyzed. It is pointed out that there may be a nonlinear relationship between income disparity and technological innovation, and then empirical analysis on the basis of theoretical derivation.fourthly the paper prefers to use the data of various cities in China, and uses the “Theil index” to measure the income gap in China. It points out that China's income gap has risen in the vertical for nearly 20 years. The trend of decline is horizontally high in the west and low in the east, followed by the provincial level in China.Based on the plate data, the fixed-effect model is adopted, and the first-order lag term of income gap is used as the instrumental variable. The two-stage least squares(TSLS)method is used to empirically analyze the impact of China's income gap on technological innovation. The analysis results show that China's income gap There is a “U” shape relationship with technological innovation, and the inflection point is around 0.1438(measured by the “Theil index”).As the income gap increases, the “price effect” dominates at the beginning, and the income gap increases to promote technological innovation. When the income gap crosses the inflection point, the “scale effect” dominates. At this time, the increase in income gap inhibits technological innovation.Fifthly, the paper draws relevant conclusions based on the previous analysis results.According to the analysis of this paper, combined with the results of empirical analysis, this paper proposes to promote regional coordinated development, flexibly adopt taxation policies and redistribution policies to promote technological innovation, and vigorously expand domestic demand and foreign demand, and control, based on the analysis of income gaps in various regions. The scale of low-income population and the strengthening of higher education have weakened the “scale effect” and brought into play the role of technological innovation to promote industrial upgrading and structural transformation.
