Since the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2008,due to the sharp decline in the demand of the international clothing trade market,the poor management and manipulation of the manufacturing,and the expansion of corporations to occupy the market,many clothing enterprises have experienced inventory crisis.Take Smith barney clothing as an example.From 2009 to 2010,the total inventory of Smith barney clothing increased from 900 million yuan to 2.5 billion yuan,an increase of more than 2.5 times.Although the incorporation has taken some positive steps to try to cut down goods in stock.But the problem of high inventories has not improved significantly.As of the end of 2017,the company's inventory is still up to about 2.5 billion yuan,most of which are out-of-season unmarketable products,which the company is difficult to realize,and there is a great possibility of unmarketable products.This will necessary shirten the rentability and level of the corporation,and inventory also occupies a large number of current assets,increasing the business risk of the corporation.This thesis basically adopts the approach of situation study,starts from the perspective of inventory management problems related to Smith barney apparel company,and takes the theories of stock-sheet regulation and supply chain regulation as the academic basis to explore the causes of inventory crisis in Smith barney apparel company.Based on the analysis of this paper,it is found that the problems existing in the inventory of Smith barney company mainly include: the total inventory overstock,the degree of stock-sheet damage is serious,and the stock-sheet rollover speed is slow.The chief motivation for the above problems are: the low efficiency of raw material supply in the upstream of the supply chain,the lack of flexibility in the supply and production links,the poor information communication with the downstream of the supply chain,the internal consumption of direct stores and franchisees,the decline of brand value and influence and so on.In this regard,the Suggestions put forward in this paper mainly include two aspects: one is the optimization countermeasures for the nodal companies,mainly including the establishment of strategic cooperative relations with raw material suppliers,the construction of part of its own production lines to ensure the flexibility of production,and the enhancement of information exchange between franchisees.Second,the optimization countermeasures for Smith barney,the core enterprise of the supply chain,mainly include improving the demand forecasting level,building a reasonable and fair performance system,using big data to enhance the enterprise's supply chain management ability and enhance its brand value,etc.,so as to solve the inventory problem from the root.
