Since the mid-twentieth century, the progress of science and technology and the development of productivity accelerated the flow of capital and labor in the world, and the links between countries were further strengthened, forming new the Global Value Chains(GVCs).With their own comparative advantages, countries at different positions in the GVCs actively participate in the international division of labor to seek maximum benefits.Participating in different links of the GVCs means different benefits of division of labor. Therefore,it has become a key content in the economic development of some countries to occupy the middle and high-end links of the GVCs and enhance the division of labor of a country's global value chain. The precondition of climbing up the value chain is to analyze the GVC status and its influencing factors. How do developed countries dominate GVCs?What are the factors that influence a country's division of labor in GVCs?What are the different factors that affect the GVCs status of different developed countries? As the largest emerging economy, how can China climb up the GVCs?The analysis of these problems is of great significance for a country to realize the division of labor in the value chains and the choice of trade policy. Therefore, this paper takes the influencing factors of GVCs status as the research subject, and finds out the influencing factors of GVCs status of countries with different degrees of development through the comparison between developed economies and emerging economies,so as to provide feasible suggestions for China to realize the climbing of GVCs status. There are three main parts:the first part includes the introduction of the article, the definition of GVCs and related theories, and the literature review of the influencing factors of the status of global value chain. The second part is the main part of the article.Firstly compares the GVCs status of developed and emerging economies, including the whole, manufacturing and service sectors, followed by analyzes the mechanism of the influence of the global value chain position. Finally, the paper set up on the econometric model between GVCs status and its influence factors, and empirical analysis on developed economies and emerging economies respectively to study the contribution degree of the influencing factors of the GVCs status, and draws conclusions:Whether developed or emerging economies, the level of technological innovation has a significant positive impact on a country's position in the global value chain. The level of human capital has no direct impact on the GVC status of developed economies, but it indirectly affect the GVC status through influencing the level of technological innovation, which has a significant direct impact on emerging economies.Infrastructure,FDI and institutional quality also have different significant effects on different economies. The third part sorts out the main conclusions of the paper and provides feasible suggestions for China to climb in the GVCs.
