Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and major social contradictions have changed.Under this background,China’s Internet construction has flourished and its economic and social impact has become increasingly prominent.In the environment of the Internet,China’s residents’ consumption has seen new characteristics and development trends,and the consumption upgrade situation is obvious.First,with the directness of the Internet,the transaction costs of household consumption are reduced.The emergence of the Internet platform can effectively reduce the large number of intermediate relationships and intermediary roles in the traditional market,reduce the intermediate links of transactions,and thus reduce transaction costs.Second,with the broadness of the Internet,the choice of household consumption has expanded.The Internet can create conditions for borderless consumption and instant consumption.By relying on the Internet platform,consumers can fully access market information,break the traditional time and space boundaries of information communication and market transactions,expand the range of consumers’ choices,enhance their choices,and consume more consumer experiences.it is good.Third,relying on the convenience of the Internet,consumer spending has released more potential.The Internet can provide consumers with more consumer products and provide more personalized customization solutions.At the same time,the Intermet is easy to spread different ideas and cultures,which inevitably changes the consumer’s consumption concept,thus creating new consumer demand.The Internet has become a direct or indirect factor affecting the consumption upgrade of residents,and with the development of the Internet,its impact on the consumption upgrade of residents will be more profound.Therefore,this paper deeply discusses the impact of Internet development on household consumption upgrading,in order to enrich the consumer consumption theory in the Internet era,provide relevant reference and theoretical basis for promoting the consumption upgrade and stimulating domestic demand in the Internet economy,and propose relevant suggestions.This paper uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis to conduct research.Firstly,the relevant concepts and theoretical foundations are defined,and the relevant literatures on Internet development and household consumption upgrading are reviewed,including the factors affecting residents’ consumption,the consumption structure of residents,the expansion of consumer demand,the development of the Internet,and the impact of the Internet on household consumption.Based on the existing research,this paper analyzes the current situation of Internet development and household consumption upgrading in China,and qualitatively discusses the impact of Intermet development on household consumption upgrading from the aspects of new characteristics of consumption and transmission mechanism.On this basis,the Internet develop:ment is incorporated into the consumption function of residents.Through the panel data model,the Internet penetration rate and mobile Internet access traffic are used to measure the development degree of the Internet,and the per capita consumption expenditure of residents is used to represent the consumption level.Different types of consumption expenditures are used to measure the consumption structure of residents.The empirical analysis of the impact of Internet development on the improvement of residents’ consumption level and consumption structure reflects the impact of Internet development on household consumption upgrading.Then,the empirical results are tested for robustness by means of regional difference analysis and substitution variables,which further demonstrates the popularity and application of the Internet,which is of great significance for expanding consumer demand and promoting balanced development of household consumption.The research results show that the development of the Internet has a significant positive effect on the consumption upgrade of residents.Its development and popularization can promote the improvement of residents’ consumption level and consumption structure.Specifically,the popularity and application of the Internet promotes the increase of consumer spending.Guiding the consumption structure of residents has shifted from survival consumption to enjoyment and development consumption.At the same time,the development of the Internet has different effects on the promotion of household consumption in different regions.According to the research conclusions,the following countermeasures and suggestions are obtained;First,innovative service supply,improve residents’ consumption power and consumer willingness,including updating the consumption concept,releasing the consumption potential of residents;increasing the income of residents and improving the actual purchasing power of residents.Secondly,improve the level of Internet development and deepen the integration of residents’ lives,including strengthening the construction of Internet infrastructure,providing high-quality communication services;promoting the popularization of Internet applications and realizing all-round connectivity.Third,improve the Internet construction platform,promote household consumption at multiple levels,including strengthening the construction of e-commerce platform,creating a good network consumption environment;playing the role of Internet information transmission,tapping the consumption potential of residents;promoting deep integration of online and offline,creating convenient consumption conditions.The main contribution of this paper is:innovation from the perspective of research and research methods.This paper attempts to analyze the consumption problems of residents from the perspective of Internet development,in order to provide relevant theoretical support for expanding residents’ consumption,and establish a panel data model to quantitatively analyze the overall impact of Internet development on residents,consumption levels and consumption structure,and further test.The issue of regional differences provides a possible way for the Internet era to expand consumer consumption,stimulate domestic demand,and promote economic restructuring and upgrading.
