The Influence Mechanisms Of Import Intermediate Quality On China's Manufacturing TFP

Trade has an unshakable position in China's economic development.After China's accession to the WTO,export trade has been the mainstay.According to the needs of China's economic development,the status of imported intermediate products is becoming more and more important.The relevant research of domestic and foreign scholars focuses on the impact of intermediate quality on the total factor productivity of the enterprise,and there is insufficient research at the industry level.Therefore,the article uses intermediate quality as an entry point to analyze the human capital and total factor productivity of intermediate quality from the industry level,industry opening influence mechanism.This paper analyzes the relationship between import intermediate quality and the impact mechanism and total factor productivity from an empirical perspective.Intermediate quality measurement is based on the methods of Berry(1994)and Khandelwal(2010).Based on the product data provided by the CEPII database,the intermediate quality of imports in the manufacturing subdivision industry in 2006-2014 is estimated.The DEA-Malmquist index method was used to calculate the total factor productivity of the manufacturing subdivision industry from 2006 to 2014 based on the data from the China Industrial Statistical Yearbook.Then,using fixed effects to analyze the impact of industry opening and human capital on total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,and analyze whether the mechanism of the impact of the import intermediate quality on the industry's total factor productivity under the impact of the financial crisis has changed.Finally,the GMM method was used for endogenous analysis and robustness test.The research results show that the import intermediate quality has an inhibitory effect on the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,industry opening has a significant promotion effect on the total factor productivity,industry opening has played a good regulatory role.Human capital has no significant effect on the total factor productivity.Under the external impact,the import intermediate quality has improved the impact on total factor productivity.External shocks have weakened the impact of industry opening and human capital on total factor productivity.
