| New generations of information technologies such as the Internet,big data,and artificial intelligence have emerged intensively,and the business model innovation and technological innovation of enterprises have shown a convergence development trend.Technological innovation is the foundation of the development of manufacturing enterprises,and business model innovation can realize the commercialization of technological research and development results,and thus become a new driving force for enterprises to create value.The interaction between business model innovation and technological innovation has received more attention in the theoretical and practical circles.However,existing researches have considered that business model innovation and technological innovation will have an impact on corporate performance,but there is no further identification of the different effects of interaction matching between different types of business model innovation and technological innovation on corporate performance.Moreover,from the perspective of dynamic evolution,the analysis of the interactive performance of different innovation mechanisms in the development process of enterprises is also lack of research on corporate performance improvement.Based on 214 manufacturing companies’ questionnaire surveys and longitudinal case studies,this paper explores those questions: first,network centrality plays a mediating role on the relationship between business model innovation、technological innovation and performance;second,how does the impact of different types of business model innovation and technological innovation affect corporate performance;third,from the time dimension,what is the internal mechanism of manufacturing enterprises to achieve performance upgrading through the development of business model innovation and technological innovation.The research results show that: Efficient business model innovation,novelty business model innovation,exploitative technological innovation,and exploratory technological innovation can significantly enhance firms’ network centrality and performance respectively;Network centrality plays a mediating role on the relationship between business model innovation and performance and also plays a mediating role on the relationship between technological innovation and performance;The interaction between novelty business model innovation and exploitative technological innovation can positively enhance firm performance,and the interaction between efficient/novelty business model innovation and exploratory technological innovation can inhibit firm performance;The positive impact of efficient business model innovation and exploitative technological innovation interaction on enterprise performance is not supported by data;there is a common evolution mechanism between business model innovation and technological innovation to promote enterprise performance,and the co-evolution path of the two evolved from efficient-oriented and exploitative-based innovation to efficient-oriented and exploratory innovation,and finally developed into novelty-oriented and exploratory innovation.This paper integrates the contingency perspective and the network perspective to identify the mediating effect of network centrality between business model innovation,technological innovation and manufacturing enterprise performance,and explores the differential impact of different types of business model innovation and technological innovation interaction on corporate performance.This paper promotes the research mechanism of the role of enterprise innovation type on enterprise performance.At the same time,based on the dynamic evolution perspective,this paper analyzes the co-evolution path of manufacturing enterprise business model innovation and technological innovation and its process mechanism for enterprise performance improvement,enriching and deepening the longitudinal evolution of business model innovation and technological innovation. |
