Since the reform and opening up,China's economic system has successfully shifted from the traditional planned economy model to the market economy model.Especially in the 21 st century,China's market economy has become increasingly diversified and complicated.The free and fierce competition environment makes the market environment more turbulent,and the development and reform become more frequent,which brings development opportunities to enterprises and corresponding difficulties and challenges.Innovation is the core competitiveness of enterprise development.More and more enterprises begin to seek innovation path in the turbulent changing environment.The academic circle also focuses more and more on the enterprise innovation development in the context of external changes.As an innovation strategy,disruptive innovation has been tested in many fields.In order to be the first to break the market bottleneck,the disruptive innovation strategy has brought new solutions for Chinese enterprises to cope with external changes.Disruptive innovation better explains the "Alexander dilemma" in which leading incumbents lose out to market start-ups,catering to the context of external change.Although disruptive innovation has become a hot development phenomenon in the context of China's emerging economies,from the perspective of senior management,the mechanism of its effect on disruptive innovation has rarely been elaborated in existing studies.Executives from cognition as the breakthrough point,this study introduced capability reconfiguration as intermediary variable.Considering the coupling relationship in government executives in cognitive relation with enterprise ability to reconstruct the regulatory role and perceived opportunities and perceived threat the impact of disruptive innovation mechanism of enterprises.388 survey data from Chinese companies for empirical research in this paper.The results show that mainstream market opportunities have a direct positive impact on capacity evolution.Emerging market opportunities have a direct positive impact on capacity substitution.The threat of performance decline has a direct positive effect on capability evolution.Critical threat has a direct positive impact on capability substitution.In addition,capacity evolution plays a partial intermediary role between mainstream market opportunities and export-oriented disruptive innovation.Capacity evolution also plays a partial mediating role between the threat of performance degradation and export-oriented disruptive innovation.Capacity substitution is a perfect mediator between emerging market opportunities and internal-oriented disruptive innovation.Capacity substitution plays a mediating role between critical threats and inward-looking disruptive innovations.Enterprise political connection positively moderates the relationship between mainstream market opportunities and capacity evolution.The results of this study extend and extend the theory of capacity evolution,the theory of strategic change and the upper echelons theory,and supplement the existing research on the influencing factors of disruptive innovation.The research results provide feasible management suggestions for enterprises in China on how to treat and deal with external changes.
