Performance Analysis On Thomson's Acquisition Of Reuters

On April 17^th 2008,Thomson announced its completion on acquisition of Reuters,and a new company ThomsonReuters was formed.Before the acquisition,Thomson and Reuters were both famous multinational global companies in financial information market,they possessed No.3 and No.2 market share respectively.While after the acquisition,the new company ThomsonReuters became No.1 financial information provider in the market,bigger than the ex-market leader Bloomberg.In this thesis I would fully investigate this acquisition case,using both literature research and case study methods,evaluate the performance of this acquisition made by Thomson.Firstly,this thesis would introduce all the backgrounds of this acquisition as well as the financial market where two companies operate in,then conduct deep analysis on the motivation behind the acquisition,after that,utilize both event study and financial analysis to do research on performance of this acquisition.Research would be done from multiple aspects,including quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis,long term analysis and short term analysis.At the end of this thesis,all the findings from the research would be consolidated,suggestions would be given to our local companies for their reference.
