Research On The Measurement Of Investment Banking Efficiency Of Commercial Banks And Its Influencing Factors

Today,the mixed operation has become the mainstream of the financial industry.Some large banks occupy a place in the financial market.However,the traditional business of the bank spreads narrowed,looking for new income growth point has become the focus of financial institutions reform.The analysis of investment banking on the improvement of bank performance and what factors make the performance different will provide a certain reference for bank policy making and business planning.Based on the classical theory of mixed operation and separate operation of banks,and combined with the development of investment banking business of listed commercial banks in recent years,this paper considers the impact of human resources,bank asset scale,bank customer situation and other factors on investment banking performance.This paper chooses the annual financial data of 22 branches of a large state-owned bank in Tianhe District of Guangzhou City from 2012 to 2018,and calculates the efficiency of investment banking operation of each branch of the bank by VRS model and composite control method in data envelopment analysis(DEA).Furthermore,panel regression is used to analyze the internal and external factors affecting the efficiency of investment banking.Part factors were investigated.The results show that:(1)the investment banking business significantly improves the operational efficiency of banks;(2)From the internal factors,executive compensation,total number of employees,operating profit and potential clients of investment banking can help to improve the efficiency of investment banking.Total assets and liabilities of banks have a negative impact on the efficiency of investment banking,while the leverage ratio of banks and the total number of customers of network companies have no significant impact on the efficiency of investment banking;(3)From the perspective of external factors,the regional economic development has a positive impact on the efficiency of investment banking.On this basis,this paper further puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to catch to the national economic development trend and then accurately positioning the market,focusing on the operation data of grass-roots banks and then studying the development law of investment banking business.
