Since the 1980 s,China's economy has achieved rapid growth, but the pollution to the environment has become increasingly prominent, facing the international trend of green finance development, how to balance the relationship between the economic development and the environmental protection is an urgent problem to be solved in the current economic development process. In 2007,our country put forward the concept of green credit, and called on commercial banks to carry out green credit business actively, raise the loan threshold of "two high and one remaining" enterprises, and at the same time guide the flow of funds into the green enterprises and projects, the purpose is to control environmental pollution problems from the source, therefor, the green credit business has brought great opportunities and challenges to the commercial banks. At present, the green credit business generally has problems such as low development level and inactive business development, scholars mainly conduct research on the operational performance and profitability of commercial banks, but there are few researches based on risk,so,this paper studies the impact of green credit on the credit risk of commercial banks, explores whether green credit can effectively reduce the loss of commercial bank loan funds, reduce credit risk, and provide a certain reference for commercial banks to develop green credit business, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, this paper expounds the research background and significance of the impact of green credit on the credit risk of commercial banks.By combing and summarizing the relevant research results of green credit at home and abroad,it makes clear the research contents and research methods of this paper, and points out the innovation points and shortcomings of this paper.Secondly,it defines the relevant concepts, expounds the relevant theories of green credit, and analyzes the influence mechanism of green credit on the credit risk of commercial banks. Then, the development status and existing problems of green credit business are also analyzed in detail. On the basis of this research, this paper comprehensively selects 16 commercial banks(including 5 state-owned banks,8 joint-stock banks and 3 city commercial banks)from 2010 to 2018 for a total of 9 years of relevant data, using three models of static panel, dynamic panel and threshold panel to regression analysis the impact of green credit on the credit risk of commercial banks, and the empirical research conclusions are as follows:(1)There is a significant negative correlation between green credit and credit risk of commercial banks,in other word, the green credit business can significantly reduce the credit risk of commercial banks;(2)Green credit has a significant single threshold effect on the credit risk of commercial banks, that is,it has significant nonlinearity. When the proportion of non-interest income is higher than the threshold value of 28.35%,the restraining effect of green credit on the credit risk of commercial banks is weakened. Finally, this paper summarizes the whole paper, and puts forward some policy suggestions from the national and bank levels according to the theoretical and empirical research results. In order to promote the development of green credit business under the guidance of the state and the positive response of commercial banks, while promoting economic transformation and upgrading, accelerate the optimization and adjustment of the credit structure of commercial banks, effectively reduce credit risks, and thus promote the green sustainable development of the whole society.
