Research On The Influence Of CEO Dual Background On The Growth Performance Of Platform Enterprises

At present,the rapid growth of platform enterprises has shown the super power and creative destructive nature of winner takes all.CEO of platform enterprise is the decision maker of strategic decision,whose background characteristics have an important impact on the growth performance of enterprise.This research integrates the upper echelons theory and knowledge based view,focusing on the "dual" attribute of the platform enterprise.This research studies the dual background of CEO of platform enterprise,that is,the influence of dual professional background of engineering and non engineering,dual industry background of internet and non internet on enterprise growth performance,the regulatory effect of the degree of strategic change and the length of CEO's tenure on this influence.Based on the panel data of China's listed Internet platform enterprises from 2007 to2017,this research uses software of Spss19.0 and Eviews7.0.And uses descriptive statistical analysis,correlation analysis and fixed effect regression analysis to conduct the empirical research.The results show that:(1)There are differences between dual professional background and dual industry background on the growth performance of platform enterprises.The dual professional background of CEO improves the growth performance of platform enterprises,but the dual industry background reduces the growth performance of platform enterprises.(2)The higher the degree of strategic change,the stronger the promotion of CEO dual professional background on the growth performance of platform enterprises.However,the degree of strategic change has no moderating effect on the impact of CEO dual industry background on the growth performance of platform enterprises.(3)If CEO's tenure is longer,it will weaken the promotion of dual professional background on the growth performance of platform enterprises,and will enhance the hindrance of dual industry background.The results of this research provide some references for enriching the theory and practice of the influencing factors of platform enterprise growth performance,and have rich theoretical value and practical significance.In theory,on the one hand,it digs the uniqueness of CEO background in platform enterprises,enriches the quantitative research on platform enterprises of strategic management school.On the other hand,it explores the knowledge characteristics contained in CEO background and the role ofCEO background on enterprise growth performance,enriches the upper echelons theory and knowledge based view.In practice,this research provides a direction for the existing platform enterprises to select or promote the appropriate leadership talents,a certain guidance for the internal strategic change of enterprises and the tenure system of senior executives.In addition,it also provides a policy reference for the Chinese government to promote the healthy development of platform enterprises.
