Using Chinese Customs data over the period 2007-2013,this study investigates the mechanism of exports' geographic expansion of enterprises on export networks and outward aid.Empirical results suggest that previous export networks of enterprises is conducive to the expansion direction of exporters, and outward aid of government can amplify the impact of export networks, which results in the entries of enterprises to countries with aid and near export networks. The conclusion is still valid after considering the influence of different core indicators calculation methods and sample selection.Furthermore, distinguishing different types of export behaviors of enterprises,we find that export networks and outward aid can promote not only sustained export but also exploratory export during expansion process of extensive margin, and the impact on the former are stronger. Finally,we also find that new entrants can export to target market with higher prices and lower qualities during the process of geographic expansion, and outward aid can improve the product quality of new entrants while reduce the quality of incumbents.
