Abstract/Summary:
Power supply systems form one of the most crucial sub-systems of current-day electronic devices. Hence the present-day scenario demands a power supply system which is highly efficient, compact in size, should not pollute the input source with harmful harmonics and available at affordable cost. Hence, switch mode power supply (SMPS) circuits have become very popular as power supply systems because they meet most of the above mentioned requirements.;The main objective of this thesis is to design a soft switching dual half-bridge bi-directional DC-DC convertor employing ZVS. The basics of soft switching are explained. The various types of SMPSs are analyzed and the various types of bi-directional DC-DC convertors are studied. The designed circuit is explained and the results are verified using the simulation software. The distinguishing features of this circuit include the soft switching and higher efficiency. The performance characteristics and the principle of operation are presented with the help of simulation software and the results are analyzed objectively. This particular design can be implemented successfully in many practical applications.
