| The purpose of this study was to assess females between the ages of 18 and 45 regarding their knowledge and attitudes related to the Safely Surrendered Baby Law. There were 34 females who responded to the questionnaire. The self-administered survey questionnaire was designed by the researcher and consisted of 8 knowledge and awareness questions, 12 attitude and social support statements, and 5 demographic questions. The instrument had marginal reliability and no known validity.; The key findings in this study suggested that greater awareness of the law leads to a more positive attitude about the law and that non-Hispanics have a more positive attitude towards the law than Hispanics. Social support was positively impacted by age and negatively impacted by a marital status of single. Implications for social work practice, research, and policy are discussed. |
