Individuation is a theory of C.G. Jung's that describes the individual psyche's evolution into a more complete version of itself. While individuation is a process that envelops the psyche as a whole, I have found it valuable to separate spiritual individuation as a singular process that develops in a pattern throughout life, much like cognition or attachment.;I have delineated five stages in the process towards spiritual individuation, using a heuristic method, to define and give meaning to an individual's experience on this journey. In addition, by highlighting spiritual development, I hope to identify an often overlooked aspect of human nature that cries out for attention and recognition in many who seek help in a psychotherapeutic setting.
