Abstract/Summary:
This study examines Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential primary debate discourse through Clinton's use of the feminine style. The analysis centers on Clinton's use of five characteristics of the feminine style in a selection of the 2008 Democratic primary debates. Through the examination of the use of the feminine style, insight into how Clinton's gender image was constructed through her female political discourse. Clinton's moderate use of the feminine style gave insight into what ways gender was used as a campaign strategy.
