Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project was to examine the writer's experience with childhood sexual abuse in the narrative format. Although there were some negative consequences that emerged from that experience, the narrative focused on the writer's path to resiliency. As a result, the writer developed a deeper understanding and empathy for clients. Literature was reviewed on the topics of child maltreatment, childhood sexual abuse, resiliency, and narratives as an important form of communication and a tool in social work practice. The writer's experience of developing her own narrative and social work implications were discussed.
