Abstract/Summary:
Extensive written material exists devoted to the trumpet. While a majority of this material is found in the multitude of music journals, a significant and ever-increasing portion of this literature is found in medical and science periodicals. Also, while trumpet articles from music journals are readily classified and available through research sources such as The Music Index (in either hard-copy or electronic form), articles that are found in non-music journals are not generally included in these resources. Therefore, efficiently and comprehensively locating this valuable literature is an obstacle faced by many trumpet researchers.;The purpose of this project is to compile, classify, and annotate a bibliography from the extensive and widely disseminated periodical articles that have relevance to the trumpet from medical and science periodical literature. Articles included in this study were discovered by systematically and manually searching each issue of all selected periodicals, from the first issue to the most recent available. Electronic sources were consulted in supplement to the "manual" searches, and also as a primary source when a publication was only available in electronic form. This method, involving primarily a "hands on" approach not taken by similar studies, ensures comprehensiveness from each periodical.;Through the classification and annotation of articles, this project provides a convenient reference and bibliographic tool for trumpet researchers to accurately and efficiently find articles germane to their research in non-music periodicals.
