Abstract/Summary:
This study is a method designed to teach the art of improvising keyboard preludes in the style of J.S. Bach. It contains practical musical exercises that are based on selected preludes by J.S. Bach included in the Clavierbuchlein for Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (begun in 1722). This method is intended for performers on the harpsichord, organ, piano, or other keyboard instruments and accessible for students, teachers, and church musicians alike. Each chapter contains graded selected improvising techniques derived from preludes in the Clavierbuchlein.
