| This paper examines what vital resources are available to non profit organizations and how to capitalize on them. Both funding and human capital are more difficult to retain in today's environment. As a result, in addition to looking at funding sources, this paper examines ways to recruit and retain volunteers as well as how to build strategic alliances. It also explores the impact the changing environment has on non profit organizations including demographics, political landscape, technology, and the economy. A case study is presented of an actual fundraiser, which depicts how volunteers and alliances were recruited and how applications of various motivation theories were utilized to obtain the desired result. Furthermore, it examines various marketing techniques which were implemented, and shows what worked and what didn't work in a real world situation. |
