Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to present an analysis of the Violence Against Women Act of 2000 (VAWA) which was a landmark piece of federal legislation in regard to domestic violence against immigrant women.; Domestic violence against immigrant women remains to be an area with discrepancies in protections and legislation policies. Moreover, efforts to stop domestic violence against immigrant women continue to be affected by lack of community resources, cultural, and educational services.; This analysis indicated that social workers need to take an active role in leading reform policy for several services that will protect immigrant women who experience domestic violence. Social workers should also collaborate with various community organizations and other professionals in efforts to increase the awareness of domestic violence against immigrant women and work toward its elimination.
