Abstract/Summary:
Scope and methodology of study. This study will review national policy trends that influence correctional programs and assess the programs available to inmates prior to release in Oklahoma. This study will also examine if there is a gap between the goals and objectives outlined by the Department of Corrections and the actual process at the state's medium security prisons.;Findings and conclusions. This research found there were substantial differences between the goal of effective reentry that DOC desires to have and what actually occurs on a daily basis. This gap appears to exist from the entry into the correctional system and continues all of the way to the release process.
