Abstract/Summary:
This praxeological study, qualitative for the most part, addresses the challenge of interculturalism in the teaching profession in Quebec, from an ethical perspective. Teachers and future teachers of the province of Quebec are or will be faced with the increasing challenge of cultural diversity. The stakeholders whose mandate is to set out educational system' guidelines are unanimous: it is imperative to accommodate interculturalism' values. However, there is a significant gap between theoretical guidance and hands-on experimentation. Why is there a gap between theory and hands-on experimentation? What are the barriers to intercultural guidance relat to aimed interculturalism' values and principles in the teaching profession?;To meet this praxeological study' objectives, a reference frame on interculturalism in the teaching profession will be developed based on Pierre Fortin's ethical method. Then, in order to identify the difficulties related to interculturalism, teachers and immigrants will be surveyed on the intercultural ethics expressed in the above reference frame. A questionnaire will be given to future teachers as well, to collect their perception of the training they receive on interculturalism. Finally, an hermeneutical analysis of teachers' comments will be done on the basis of regulatory ethics.;Keywords: interculturalism, ethics, teaching; In exploring the matter of interculturalism in the teaching profession, with immigrants and teachers whose classes present intercultural reality, we will meet two objectives: first, identify the difficulties related to intercultural ethics and then, suggest ways to reduce the gap between the conceptual interculturalism aimed at and the hands-on experimentation of teaching.
