Assessment has long been seen as consisting of the standardized test mandated by No Child Left Behind that has had such negative implications for the public school system. However, assessment is the key to unlocking the learning process for both teachers and students; it is merely teachers' lack of assessment literacy that makes assessment feel like something done to teachers, not with teachers. By helping 12 teachers and administrators understand various forms of assessment and the connection to student achievement, their assessment literacy in assessment for learning strategies increased. This new-found knowledge and confidence in assessment has positive implications for promoting student achievement. |
