Abstract/Summary:
This work studies two log-periodic rectangular slot ring antennas configurations. The first configuration is a CPW feed antenna. Return Loss ≤ - 10dB or VSWR ≤ 2 is achieve throughout 5.90 to 12.60GHz for this configuration, but feed the antenna by the larger element excites two different resonance modes for this element throughout the desire bandwidth causing undesirable behavior in the radiation of the antenna. The second configuration tries to solve the directivity problem; a microstrip and CPW feed antenna configuration is presented. Return loss ≤ -7.33 dB from 4.80GHz to15.10GHz and a good radiation pattern with directivity from 0-7dB is achieved.;A statistical characterization 26 DOE is presented for a microstrip and CPW feed configuration. The antenna reflection coefficient and radiation pattern pointing angle were analyzed and regression models were used to predict the antenna responses. The models give an understanding on the effect of the antenna design parameters on the responses of the antenna. These models are validated by comparing various simulations of the DOE. Also, antennas were fabricated and measured to further validate the results and comparable results were obtained for the final micrsotrip and CPW feed antenna designed.
