| Zigbee is a standard optimized for Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) applications that require low data rates and low battery life. An ideal application would be a wireless sensor network that can be used to remotely monitor vital patient data. Wireless patient monitoring systems have the inherent advantage of allowing the subject to be mobile while still being accessible. The essence of this system is in that it eliminates the requirement of the subject to be stationary, thus improving the ease of monitoring data. In our work, we design a Zigbee based wireless network that can monitor remotely, a subject's Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP) and Pulse Rate. We evaluate the different possible implementation approaches that can be used in achieving this. |
