Strategic infrastructure investments are the key to ensuring that Ontario's municipalities will be sustainable over the long-term. Therefore, it is critical that public infrastructure investments, made through the Federal Gas Tax funding program, are being allocated for sustainable infrastructure. This thesis examines Ontario's current trends in Gas Tax Funding allocation through a review of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario's (AMO's) Gas Tax Funding allocation reports. This thesis also examines the decision-making processes behind Frontenac County's use of the Gas Tax Funding for their new Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP).
