| Mississippi people is a collection of short stories and essays written during the course of my three years at UMKC. The characters within, even the one's that aren't from Mississippi themselves, all have a bit of Mississippi in them. The collection is largely concerned with the question, what does it mean to be a Mississippi person? Often, it means being an outsider, whether in the South, the Midwest, or at a low-key Illuminati dinner party. The dirty secret, of course, is that the people living on the fringes know a place better than anyone. The stories in this collection are those of these outsiders, living in a world where reality and the unreal blend together. |
