Abstract/Summary:
This study sought to identify the most important roles and competencies of human resource development (HRD) practitioners in banks in Egypt. The purpose was to set a framework for improvement of HRD practitioner's job performance. It will also help measure the gap between the perspective of; local and multinational HRD practitioners; and between HRD practitioners and HR managers.; Gathering data was in two phases. First phase was, structured questionnaires designed to investigate the most important roles and competencies of HRD practitioners in local and multinational banks. The second phase was interviews conducted for HR managers confirm phase one. Both phases used Mclagan's (1989) model for describing HRD roles and competencies.; In findings, there was difference in the HRD practitioner's perspective concerning the most important roles and competencies. There is also some difference in the HR managers and HRD practitioner's perspective of the most important roles and competencies.
