The Effect Of Project Managers' Competencies On The Success Of Development Projects In International Organizations In Yemen

The main objective of this study is to identify the influence of project manager's competencies on the success of development projects in Yemen.The project manager is responsible for the success of projects and deliver projects on time,within the budget,within the quality required,and satisfy both customers and stakeholders.This research is a study of the effect of the project manager's competencies on the success of development projects in Yemen.Data were collected from 112 project managers working on 30 international organizations in Yemen.Data were collected through the questionnaire distributed to the organizations via the organization's internal email.Questionnaires collected from organizations were analyzed by using the software SPSS 22.After verifying the normality,validity,and reliability of the questionnaire questions,multiple regressions were used to test the hypothesis of the study.The results showed that the relationship between the competencies of project managers studied in this research(skills,knowledge and personal attitude)was very strong.The result showed that means of the participants' perception about the implementation degree of project managers' competencies items are between(3.07)and(3.79)with standard deviation ranges between(0.687)and(0.755).This result indicates that there was an agreement on the high importance of project managers' Competencies.The results showed that skills have a high effect on project managers' competencies according to the overall respondents.The result showed that means of the participants' perception about the implementation degree of project success factors(Quality,Cost,Time,Customer Satisfaction,and Stakeholder Satisfaction)were between(2.64)and(3.68)with standard deviation ranges between(0.694)and(0.816).This result indicates that there was an agreement on the high importance of development projects success.The result showed that quality has a high effect on development projects success according to the overall respondents.The correlation between project managers' competencies and development projects success was strong,with a range of(0.690).This result indicated that there was a significant relationship between competencies of project manager and development projects success.Therefore,the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted,which states that the project manager's competencies have a significant impact and positively affect the success of development projects,at(a<0.05).This result can be used as a base to improve the competencies of project managers working in international organizations in Yemen.
