Abstract/Summary:
Gas hydrates are members of substances known as clathrates, because they consist of molecules entrapped in the lattice. The HYDRATERESSIM® code was used to simulate the production of CH4-hydrate deposits trapped in the permafrost and/or in deep ocean sediments. Permafrost is a soil below the freezing point of water while ocean sediment is over ice point. Data generated are presented in a clear and detailed format showing comparison with simulation ran on the assumption of gas hydrates in bulk phase rather than porous media. In this study the Moridis equilibrium relationship was updated to the Clarke-Bishnoi model for hydrate equilibria in porous media. With more accurate equilibrium calculation, better prediction of the gas production rate from hydrate reservoir can be achieved.
