The current analog control of the converters at the Argonne National Lab need to be upgraded to increase the output current resolution, hence a digital control system is proposed. The digital control system consists of analog to digital converter, IIR low pass filter, PI controller, and a digital to analog converter. Noise is coupled into the feedback loop through sensing circuitry; therefore an IIR low pass filter is used to attenuate noise from the feedback loop. The PI controller is used to eliminate the steady state error to a step input. Matlab/Simulink is utilized to model the digital control system. |
