To permit inverter-based distributed power generators to interconnect with existing Electric Power Systems, its current harmonics must meet the requirements set by IEEE Standard 1547 [3]. Three current control methods: hysteresis controller, traditional predictive controller, and improved predictive controller were analyzed and compared by computer simulations in the thesis. An improved predictive method was proposed and implemented on a prototype inverter in the laboratory.; The experimental results confirmed that the proposed predictive current control algorithm successfully improves the power quality of the single-phase, grid-connected inverter. The total harmonics distortions of the inverter current is compliant with the IEEE standard in a wide power range.; The system models of single-phase, grid-connected inverter systems with predictive digital controllers were developed. The transient response characteristics of inverter systems with two different predictive controllers were analyzed. The conclusions were confirmed by experimental tests. The improved predictive current controller can effectively improve the transient response characteristics of inverter systems, as demonstrated by theoretical analyses, laboratory tests.
