Abstract/Summary:
Marlos Nobre's music is known by its peculiarity and unique aesthetics. Throughout his career, he has learned and improved different compositional techniques and therefore accomplished a rich musical language. The "IV Ciclo Nordestino" was recently published in 2006 and is a clear example of the combination between tonal and contemporary elements.;In order to classify these elements, the analysis should consider any melody or system that has a clear center (tonic) as tonal elements. Contemporary elements are related to any use of twelve tone system rules, clusters, set classes, atonality and aleatority. After the classification of these aspects it is important to underline how they are grouped together in the music and how they are combined by the composer.;The final result should be a helpful guide to Marlos Nobre's music that can explain and defend his compositional procedures and musical beliefs.
