Native Americans have struggled to keep their own land. With centuries of struggles behind, the Native Americans are rebounding. They have fought to operate as sovereign governments and are trying to seek economic opportunities.; Gaming is very popular among the Native Americans across the United States. In fact, it may be the best and only means by which most tribes can attain true economic sovereignty. Native American casinos became successful with the help of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The act recognized the right of Indian tribes to establish gaming and gaming facilities on their reservations. The Mashantucket Pequots now operate Foxwoods and became very successful generating more than {dollar}1 billion in annual revenues. There are over 310 gaming operations run by federally recognized tribes.
