Abstract/Summary:
This thesis study is an attempt to define the current political nomos and to display how the current political nomos comes into existence. I am suggesting that the current political nomos, which we live in, is the state of exception.;I am asserting that the state of exception is constant and it is unexceptional in essence. Thus, I am analyzing how the state of exception becomes unexceptional and constant. This part of my study is an affirmation of Walter Benjamin's works. I believe my contribution appears when I examine how the constant state of exception is legitimized. I try to describe the institutional, discursive and theoretical tools for the materialization of the constant state of exception throughout the study and this is the originality of this work.;For this matter, I believe there are four elements crucial for the materialization of the constant state of exception and I explain each of them in separate chapters. I classify these four institutional, discursive and theoretical constructs as the idea of homeland, the theory of geopolitics, the notion of life unworthy of living and fascistic thought. These are basically constituent elements in formation of the constant state of exception and I think without them the constant state of exception cannot be maintained.;The thesis by evaluating the notion of state of exception, the role of sovereign, the meaning of political, the importance of friend versus enemy dictum is also challenging the contemporary authoritarian, fascistic world-views. In this sense, this study is a small contribution for forming a democratic political ethos.
