Abstract/Summary:
The aim of the research project is determine the effect of a peer mentorship program on the resiliency of the participating students, both mentors and mentees. The peer mentorship program involves grade seven mentors and grades five and six mentees (protegees) at a middle school.; A major goal of the resiliency program delivery is to help students who find stresses of everyday life overly burdensome, identified in this project as 'vulnerable' students, succeed in the school community. A locally developed resiliency curriculum will be implemented at grades five, six, and seven. Mentorship is the major focus of the resiliency program for this project. The impact of the mentorship program will be examined within an action research model using predominantly qualitative inquiry methods.
