Abstract/Summary:
This study researched the undergraduate public relations curriculum to see if public relations students are receiving the necessary education in professionalism to develop future professionals. Education in areas such as writing, research, technology, law, theories, management, strategic planning, media relations, history, international public relations, crisis communications, integrated marketing communication, social media, business literacy, along with internships can prepare students for a special expertise in a defined body of knowledge. Education in ethics courses can also prepare students for knowledge in ethical principles. Content analysis of universities and liberal arts colleges' course catalogs were used to reveal that while most of these areas are found in undergraduate education there are also areas of potential improvement.
