Abstract/Summary:
Guanxi has been described by various scholars as either an emergent phenomena orienting from the Cultural Revolution or as a result of previous Confucian cultural imprinting. However, China is currently undergoing a radical economic and social change in part due to it new status with the World Trade Organization. The result of massive economic growth has potentially led to a change in the concept of guanxi. This study considers both the emic and etic perspectives of guanxi in one urbanizing village in China.
