Abstract/Summary:
This study investigates how project managers working in international offices in post-secondary institutions learn what they do. The participants in the study were experienced international project managers who worked at one of four institutions, including: two colleges, one institute, and one university, located in an Atlantic Canadian province. A survey of the literature reviews aspects of adult education, project management, and education in an international development context, which relate to international education and training project management. The study method was a qualitative semi-structured interview process. The questions were about program planning and management processes. The results of the study reveal that managers of international education and training projects learn their craft through experience. Results also show that international education and training project management work involves a human dimension as much as the planning and management skills and processes employed.
