Abstract/Summary:
The Topic: One cannot read popular newspapers like the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, or magazines such as Foreign Affairs or The Economist without noticing an article on China. For the most populated nation on earth, China has literally 'come out of its shell' to become not only an industrial competitor, but an economic powerhouse as well.;Post September 2011, China has awakened to become a growing concern to the global supremacy of the U.S. and its allies. The foundation of China's rise in influence, and the basis for our nations' apprehension, is its strong economy. The situation is intensified by our lack of knowledge regarding China's true intentions and therefore affecting the United States from constructing appropriate policies.;The Problem or Issue: China's vibrant economy has generated growth on several capabilities. For example, its military is in a race to build industry leading machinery, its industrial capacity and production continues to produce surpluses, and its fiscal policies are ensuring that its economy continues to increase at a steady pace for years to come. Consequently, the Chinese government continues to enjoy the world's largest capital surpluses and now operates one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds.;The Research Question: Using analytical approaches, what are China's intentions (political or financial) for making investments through its sovereign wealth fund?...
