Abstract/Summary:
A customized automatic control system based on a Programmable Logic Controller and a Graphical User Interface was enhanced to control the addition of two reactants entering in a tank in which a saline solution is held for further processing. The Graphical User Interface was designed using Intellution Fix® software. Taylor NxT® software was used for development of the Ladder Logic program.; The application developed allows the user to access from one interface all the necessary information and have all required control to perform the addition of the two reactants. The enhancements provide a more accurate and repeatable way to perform the activity. The automatic control technique used for the addition sequence is called ratio control. The new strategy was developed using Ladder Logic programming and resides in the Programmable Logic Controller. The new sequence will lead to a reduction in the final product degradation.
