Abstract/Summary:
This thesis proposes an alternative process to residential housing Pre-Design and Programming. The autobiographical investigation of a couple will provide an initial framework in defining what is necessary volumetrically for personal architecture. Based on the couple's current habits, routines, and interactions with the spaces and objects of importance in their lives, a reduction-based approach to domestic Pre-Design will be taken. Utilizing photographic montage, mapping of daily routines, cataloging and ranking of household items, and various drawing techniques, the couple's personality will be systematically transformed into the necessary data to frame spatial constraints in an effort to develop their own personal architecture.
