Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to assess the international business workforce skills and training needs of the manufacturing sector in the Muskegon, Michigan, business community, so that Muskegon Community College can internationalize its business curriculum.; A review of the literature suggests that efforts to internationalize the business curricula of many community colleges have been based on studies and surveys of what other colleges were doing rather than on an assessment of business and industry workforce skills needed for international business activities.; The results of this study showed that employers in Muskegon involved in international business wanted employees with superior marketing management skills, sales ability, competency in foreign languages, and the ability to negotiate the terrain of cultural differences. Results also indicated that community colleges attempting to internationalize their business curriculum should work to build linkages with the business community.
