The goal of this project is to identify differences between the topics contained in each of the Knowledge Areas (KAs) of the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (Guide to the SWEBOK®) and the knowledge contained in the Rational Unified Process® (RUP). The differences identified are of two types: terminological differences and topics which can only be found in one or other of the documents. Detailed recommendations are then formulated for the development teams of each product based on the differences found. Mapping the two documents shows that they compare favourably with regard to the knowledge that they embody.
