Abstract/Summary:
We developed a Monte Carlo model of starburst dendrimers. The model is composed of equilateral triangles connected at their corners. Each pair of triangles is free to rotate about their common axis, and no two triangles are permitted to intersect. The model is expected to be an adequate representation of the dendric aromatic polyether being developed by J. M. J. Frechet and co-workers at Cornell. We use the programmer's toolkit from Mathematica, Wolfram Research, Inc. We observed that models of generation 6 are not able to grow to completion without entanglement. We also tested segregation properties of starburst dendrimers.
